Under Destruction

As of January 2024, Off with their Records is undergoing major restructuring. We're moving to Bandcamp and we're completely changing our web infrastructure. It doesn't sound like it but this is actually all very exciting stuff as it represents a significant change in the way we operate. Funnily enough, some of these changes are a return to the original ethos and modus operandi of the label. Over time I have tried various new developments as well as made moves to adapt to cultural currents, the change was good and has served us well but it's time for more changes and the original principles of the label still stand tall and guide those changes. One significant return to the past is that we're moving our website back to Tumblr. This has been made possible by the fact that Tumblr stopped peddling in porn so it's now a viable choice of website that won't get filtered out by people's browsers. Which is great because Tumblr is free! None of this will explicitly affect you, dear fan, but everything will look and feel better. More real, more DIY.

Thanks for your continued support, follow us on Bandcamp and Instagram bookmark OffwiththeirRecords.co.uk to stay up to date with Norwich music.

The end of April brings the blossom of a project that we have been working on for over a year and a half. We're from Norwich 20 is a goliath release that marks 20 years since the first 'We're from Norwich #1' (a compilation album encapsulating Norwich's astonishing music scene) and 20 years of fine city music. The release includes a 12" vinyl collecting 12 tracks from contemporary artists living and working in Norwich today and a CD featuring a further 15 tracks. There is a book, 'I'm not from here but it feels like home' collecting articles about Norwich from some of it's most active participants and a download that collects all the above material plus 'We're from Norwich' 1+2 and the Howlback Hum back catalogue of some of Norwich's best artists of the last 20 years. This whole package will be available to but for a meagre £20 because this is a non-capitalist enterprise. There is also a download-only release which collects all that material, just no physical product, for just £8.

We have a full weekend of gigs, check out live events section above to see what's going on.

I have been very slack with updates since the new year. I feel like I'm traveling with all momentum no motivation right now as I'm propelled forward, like a frog mid-leap, by all the projects I started many months ago. It's an odd arc to be caught in but not entirely alien to me. I have a number of big projects which are all about to be completed and burst forth in quick succession over the next couple of months so I'm not thinking much about what I'm doing or why, it's just work work work, hence it feels like all momentum no motivation. I get more excitement out of coming up with new ideas than completing them so despite the fact that some really massive, cool things are about to reach fruition, I'm actually looking forward to them being done so I can move on to the next thing. Just a little insight into my mind for you there. Now about that stuff. Next big thing to happen is the Waxx! debut album launch and tour. We will be playing at HMV, Norwich, on 4th March, think we're on about 2pm, and our album will be available through them exclusively for a week before we start touring it and selling it far and wide. Follow here and on Instagram for more up dates on all our projects as they happen.
