Under Destruction

As of January 2024, Off with their Records is undergoing major restructuring. We're moving to Bandcamp and we're completely changing our web infrastructure. It doesn't sound like it but this is actually all very exciting stuff as it represents a significant change in the way we operate. Funnily enough, some of these changes are a return to the original ethos and modus operandi of the label. Over time I have tried various new developments as well as made moves to adapt to cultural currents, the change was good and has served us well but it's time for more changes and the original principles of the label still stand tall and guide those changes. One significant return to the past is that we're moving our website back to Tumblr. This has been made possible by the fact that Tumblr stopped peddling in porn so it's now a viable choice of website that won't get filtered out by people's browsers. Which is great because Tumblr is free! None of this will explicitly affect you, dear fan, but everything will look and feel better. More real, more DIY.

Thanks for your continued support, follow us on Bandcamp and Instagram bookmark OffwiththeirRecords.co.uk to stay up to date with Norwich music.

BLOG

After the release of MARLA's 2019 EP, recorded at Abbey Road Institute, way back in January, the innovative post-rock quartet have been locked in the turbulent process of recording their ambitious and experimental album project. The making of this, their magnum opus, will be an epic story indeed, should it ever be completed (for it's not a story if it has no end). This has meant that their live performances have become increasingly rare. Their last hometown gig was a headline show at the Waterfront back in June. But now they rear their many heads for a special performance on 1st November at Karma Kafe, a Halloween show with a Stranger Things theme. As with all of these gigs run by Lucky Mojo, come in costume and you get in free.

After nearly 6 years and over 70 episodes, PMVpodcast, Norwich's premier live-music podcast, comes to an end. PMVpodcast is the direct ancestor of Off with their Records and stands as a monument; a big old slab of the Norwich music scene 2013-2019 there for all to listen to. On 6th September we, with the help of our promoter friend, Ideal Surreal, celebrate the life and death of the podcast with a supergig at Karma Kafe. Featuring 12 bands across 3 floors, we come together under the eyes of pod, in podly communion, in pod we trust, for a pod damn good time.

For tickets £5 in advance from Ideal Surreal click here.

After BRG's pre-launch gig at the Playhouse on 25th August, the Groop remain Earthbound while scientists carry out the final safety precautions on their ship. Guitarist of the Groop, Tony Moje, has completed his tinkering while the unpredictable captain, Shane O'Connor-linski, has commanded the mission with his usual guile, at once confounding and challenging the scientists at his disposal with formulas designed to alter their perception of reality rather than affirm their limited 'rocket science'. With only a few mechanical preparations to be made before the Rocket's fateful ascent, the Groop spend their intermittent days as well as they can until Ground Control issues their final countdown. The definitive launch date will be announced within the next few weeks directly after all safety checks have been made.
