Under Destruction

As of January 2024, Off with their Records is undergoing major restructuring. We're moving to Bandcamp and we're completely changing our web infrastructure. It doesn't sound like it but this is actually all very exciting stuff as it represents a significant change in the way we operate. Funnily enough, some of these changes are a return to the original ethos and modus operandi of the label. Over time I have tried various new developments as well as made moves to adapt to cultural currents, the change was good and has served us well but it's time for more changes and the original principles of the label still stand tall and guide those changes. One significant return to the past is that we're moving our website back to Tumblr. This has been made possible by the fact that Tumblr stopped peddling in porn so it's now a viable choice of website that won't get filtered out by people's browsers. Which is great because Tumblr is free! None of this will explicitly affect you, dear fan, but everything will look and feel better. More real, more DIY.

Thanks for your continued support, follow us on Bandcamp and Instagram bookmark OffwiththeirRecords.co.uk to stay up to date with Norwich music.

BLOG

Before lockdown we (Off with their Records and Ideal Surreal) had some of the best gigs we've ever organised lined up. I'm talking a gig a month for 6 months of not just the best bands around but some of the best bands that have ever been around the scene. After a bit of a lull back when the recession happened, Norwich is booming again with the quality, diversity, character and dynamism that it has been so famous for and we now boast a live music scene that is bristling with mind-bending talent. Then lockdown hit and that all got scrapped. But since the world started opening up again we have resumed our giggage and it has been spectacular. Not only have we had line-ups that should go down in legend, the crowds have been insane. Now we have 2 more gigs to go before we take a little break to focus on writing, recordings and releases in 2022.

I won't go on too much about the gig on 11th because it's sold out. If you're going, you know about it, if not, I won't rub it in. But if you're about on 17th December we have a free entry party-style gig going on at the Rumsey Wells. A loose line-up, jammy elements, Ideal Surreal DJ-ing afterwards and general fun. Join us for our last knees-up of the year.

We have yet another gig coming up for you. Enjoy them now because we're taking a break from live music soon to focus on recordings and releases.

On 3rd December at the almighty Voodoo Daddy's Showroom we have another Off with their Records/Ideal Surreal showcase.

Headlining are Galli who are a unique band in Norwich, soaring above the scene with her Jeff Buckley-esque songwriting and poly-talented band.

Main support, Shane O'Linski, plays one of his legendary impromptu orchestra /massive band performances. Really not to be missed.

And opening the night, 2-piece newcomers The Rabbits charm with their acoustic folk-inspired music.

After this we have 2 more gigs before the end of the year, follow us on Instagram etc to stay up to date.

It's been a busy time for us as far as gigs are concerned. We've been slapping Norwich with some pretty fine live music over the last couple of months and we have a few more coming up. On 25th November at Voodoo Daddy's we have 2 Off with their Records bands playing on the same bill. MARLA and Yellowhammers are supporting frat-rock favourites, Bag of Cans, along with Californian indie-rockers, The Acharis.

3rd December Off with their Records star player, Shane Olinski, is playing one of his typically unique shows with an ad hoc band that's rumoured to be about 10-people strong, supporting Galli and with support from The Rabbits.

11th December Catch 21 Records are running a joint Christmas do with Off with their Records. It starts at the Shoe Factory with a massive line-up of killer bands and Wildcraft Brewery catering the event with exclusive beverages.

And there are more but I'm running out of space. Keep your eyes on here for more updates.
