Under Destruction

As of January 2024, Off with their Records is undergoing major restructuring. We're moving to Bandcamp and we're completely changing our web infrastructure. It doesn't sound like it but this is actually all very exciting stuff as it represents a significant change in the way we operate. Funnily enough, some of these changes are a return to the original ethos and modus operandi of the label. Over time I have tried various new developments as well as made moves to adapt to cultural currents, the change was good and has served us well but it's time for more changes and the original principles of the label still stand tall and guide those changes. One significant return to the past is that we're moving our website back to Tumblr. This has been made possible by the fact that Tumblr stopped peddling in porn so it's now a viable choice of website that won't get filtered out by people's browsers. Which is great because Tumblr is free! None of this will explicitly affect you, dear fan, but everything will look and feel better. More real, more DIY.

Thanks for your continued support, follow us on Bandcamp and Instagram bookmark OffwiththeirRecords.co.uk to stay up to date with Norwich music.

The new EP 'Night' by Shane O'Linski's 'The Ornithologists' has descended upon us from on high and settled here on Earth in the form of a CD and download.

We've departed from our house style for the CD and printed off a limited run of beautifully illuminated digipak CDs available for £6 from our shop free p&p. Or for those of you who view CDs as an outdated and reprehensible medium the download is available for just £3 including all the artwork and promo animation.

Thanks to everybody who has helped bring this into being. First and foremost Shane O'Linski for being an unstoppable musical juggernaut, the many musicians who performed on the album, Sickroom Studios for recording and Morris for spearheading the production, design and release, it's been very nice not operating as a one-man record label for a change.

We have a launch event at The Rumsey Wells, Norwich on 18th March featuring performances from The Ornithologists, Takeda, Joey Herzfeld and Jon Cocker where the CD will be available very slightly cheaper £5, mostly because I can't be bothered handing out loose change. See you there and stay tuned for more...

We are thrilled to announce the release of the new EP by Shane O'Linski's band 'The Ornithologists'. The new EP, 'Night', will be available on CD, download and the 5 main tracks will be available to stream on all major streaming services. We will be celebrating with a launch gig at The Rumsey Wells, Norwich on 18th March featuring performances from The Ornithologists, Takeda and Joey Herzfeld.

Which brings us nicely around to saying that the long-awaited, much-lauded new album from Joey Herzfeld is one step closer to being released. We're just sorting artwork then we'll have a release date for you. Woop woop.

And you can hear exclusive first plays of tracks from both those releases in the new Off with their Records podcast. It's right there on the front page of our website or if you're reading this in the distant future, hey, how's it going? Do we have flying cars yet?

As we crawl into 2022, this arbitrary punctuation of time brings pause and cadence to our endeavours. There are a number of changes happening at Off with their Records which should see 2022 be a very productive and interesting year.

First, we are moving away from being a one-man operation. It kind of worked at the start but now it's practically impossible. I have found over the last couple of years releases are taking forever to finish and the quality has even been compromised. In 2022 I am shifting my recording work to local studio, Catch 21. With each project I am finding other key people to help with the work. And I am trying to be more streamlined with the amount of work I take on, though saying no to things I want to do has always been tough.

We're putting on less gigs this year, we were organising more than one a month for the last 6 months, now we are taking a little break to focus on releases as well as writing and recording with some of the bands I'm more actively involved in.

We already have a bunch of exciting releases in the can which you will be hearing over the next few months. So as we turn the page, prepare for an exciting new chapter here at Off with their Records.

Happy New Year
